learning the chants and knowing them is a very important part of our culture as voyagers. the chants are used to introduce ourselves, tell our lineage, ask permission to come on land, and welcome visitors to visit with us. The chants also connect us to our ancestors, our higher being, and with all that is in our surroundings. it is a form of meditation and prayer that helps us be appreciative and focused.
